The Volunteer Coastal Patrol was founded in 1937 as an auxiliary service to the RAN. It is the oldest maritime Search and Rescue organisation in Australia and the largest Search and Rescue group in NSW. The Patrol was granted the ‘Royal’ prefix by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 2 in 1973. DedicationThe Royal Volunteer Coastal Patrol is an organisation of dedicated men and women who devote over 800,000 individual hours of skilled effort every year to provide the highest standard of marine Search & Rescue and Public Marine Training services to the NSW boating community. There are twenty-six divisions located up and down the NSW coastline.
